Naples mini trip
PRICE: €965 per person (on group trips)*

Duration: 2 1/2 days
Group Size: 8 people max
Although it is Italy's second largest city, Naples is one of its least-known. Chaotic by most standards, it's also vibrantly alive. Packed with an abundance of Baroque art and blessed with some of the world's greatest archaeological treasures, Naples can provide the most amazing adventure for the culture-minded traveler. Oh, did we mention food? Perhaps because it is less-touristed than the rest of Italy, Naples possesses one of the richest, most authentic cuisines on the peninsula. From pizza elevated to an art form to fresh fish pulled from the Bay of Naples at its doorstep, Neapolitan cuisine offers foodies an entire universe to explore.

two-day immersion in Naples
This 2½-day itinerary takes participants into the heart of Naples with a local historian to unfold its layers and explore its hidden corners. We'll spend quite a bit of time in the historic center of the city, which was originally settled by the Greeks, then Romans, and visit some of the underground ruins dating from that period. In contrasting seminars on the art of Naples and the social and political history of the city, led by local scholars, we'll seek to contextualize Naples within the larger scheme of European history.
Our adventure will take us to the city's famous Archaeological Museum, home of the Farnese collection of ancient Roman art and many artifacts from Pompeii. We'll also participate in a hands-on pizza workshop learning how to make (and eat) our own authentic pizza.
Through a mixture of the cultural and gastronomic, the historical and artistic, and by immersing ourselves in the details of the city, we'll gain a sense of this southern Italian capital in all its guises and come to appreciate the hidden gem that is Naples.
